Sheila purchased Swain's Travel in September, 1984. In the past 23 years, through her client centered philosophy, travel expertise, destination knowledge of herself and co-workers, the agency has grown and prospered in a very competitive business environment.
She attributes the success of the agency to her belief in, and the practice of, placing clients' needs first and exceeding their expectations for service, travel expertise and destination knowledge of everyone in the agency.
Sheila enjoys working directly with clients from the planning stage through to client evaluation of their travel experience. She has traveled to many places... by land, air and sea. She has cruised extensively with many different cruise lines to Alaska, the Panama Canal, Caribbean and Greek Islands and Mexico, and she has barged in the Loire Valley in France. Her favorite destinations are Hawaii, Bermuda, Ireland and Italy.

Kristin joined our agency a year ago brimming with energy and enthusiasm for the travel industry. She approaches her work with clients and suppliers with the will to do the best job possible and is succeeding! She has had the opportunity to live and work in two dynamite resort locations, Key West and Santa Barbara. She has experienced the life and culture, the museums and landmarks of London, Paris, Rome, Zurich, in addition to the countryside’s of Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, and the Czech Republic. She has also had “fun in the sun” in Bermuda, Hawaii, and Mexico. Kristin has recently completed three trips to the Caribbean and Bahamas. She experienced a Club Med vacation in San Salvador, which is perfect for honeymooners, families, or for a group of friends. Also visiting the Atlantis in Paradise Island this Fall, which made for a perfect long weekend getaway! Kristin has also just recently returned from a Royal Caribbean Cruise , cruising on one of their newest ships, The Jewell of the Seas. Mary Ellen, (a new bride) has just moved to Nantucket after commuting here for 2 years. She has extensive experience in all aspects of domestic and international travel; in addition to coordinating may events. Having lived in the Boston area for over 10 years, Mary Ellen is extremely knowledgeable about the Cape and the Islands. Wenche (Venka) is from Norway, has over the last eight years worked as a travel consultant in the US and Norway, helping corporate and retail clients with their travel. She has traveled within Europe, Asia, South Pacific, Caribbean, South America and the US. She likes adventure travel and is always looking for some new and exciting places to go.
In January, Wenche spent some time in Iceland, exploring different day trips from Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle, Jeep Safari and an evening trip to see the Northern Lights.
Wenche just recently returned from Bermuda on a Travel Agent Familiarization trip where she inspected many of Bermuda's finest hotels. Bermuda is just a 2 hour flight from Boston offering an array of water sports, golf, shopping and sightseeing.

A former travel agency owner herself, Pat (PJ) has over 15 years experience in corporate and vacation travel. Her extensive travel throughout the US and abroad aids her in customizing trips for clients. Whether your interest lies in hiking along the Great Wall of China, seeing the sunrise from the summit of Mt. Fuji in Japan, riding the cog rail to the "Top of the World" in Switzerland, or taking in the natural beauties of our national parks and historic lodges, PJ can help with her first-had knowledge. Travel to faraway places has been her lifelong passion which she has pursued with vigor and delight. Her adventures have included 20 cruises, many overland excursions and dozens of city visits everywhere in the world. She has traveled to every country in South America, every country in Western Europe, Canada, almost every island in the Caribbean, Mexico, Russia, but most especially Asia: India, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and China. In the winter of 2002, she cruised on Holland America from Santiago, Chile, around Cape Horn, to Rio de Janeiro, stopping in Puerto Montt, Ushuaia, Falkland Islands and Buenos Aires. The ship cruised the Straits of Magellan and the Beagle Channel. In the winter of 2003, she cruised the waters of Asia aboard Holland America once again, revisiting for the fourth time Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and China. In addition, she traveled to Cambodia, Laos, Brunei and Japan. For the winter of 2004, she is planning an exotic journey overland from Bangkok to Cambodia for the second time, Burma (Myanmar) for the third time, the isolated Himalayan Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan, Nepal, then to the districts of Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Kerala in India. Her travels will end on the spectacular beaches of the Indian Ocean nation of the Maldives.
She has been associated with the travel industry for over 30 years, including 9 years in a part-time capacity at Swain's Travel. She loves to share her joy of travel with clients who are planning a trip near or far, even to the ends of the earth!

Emily joined the staff at Swain’s Travel in January of 2007. A Nantucket resident since 1981, her favorite vacation destinations are the islands of Hawaii, in particular the Fairmont Orchid resort on the Big Island, the Wailea Marriott on Maui and the Grand Hyatt Kauai. Her favorite city is San Francisco where she has enjoyed stays at the Pan Pacific, Campton Place and Intercontinental Mark Hopkins hotels. The lure of resorts and hotels renowned for their fabulous spas has resulted in recent trips to the Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona, and the Fairmont Princess in Scottsdale, Spring Creek Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Hawks Cay Resort in the Florida Keys and the Westin Harbor Hotel and Resort in Savannah, Georgia. A trip to the Lake Austin Resort and Spa in Texas is planned for this summer.
Emily recently achieved her Spa Specialist Designation. Together with Swain’s Travel she plans to offer an ongoing series of Spa Getaway Weekends, beginning with a two night stay on November 9 and 10 at the Hyatt Regency in Newport, Rhode Island.

After 16 years of living on Nantucket, Bobbi relocated to Pinehills in Plymouth, MA where she is an Independent Travel Agent for Swain's Travel. Bobbi, after being bitten by the travel bug, has many years of travel and tourism experience and frequently travels to Europe, including numerous trips to Italy and France. One of her newest destinations will take her on a European River Cruise from Prague to Budapest in September. Stan helps out part-time - he stops by every now and then to change the printer ribbons and water bottles. He's from Florida, where he keeps an 'occasional'  winter home. His favorite trips include the South of France, which he tries to make an annual event (at least!), and bareboat chartering in the Virgin Islands. Last fall, he bicycled from Prague to Vienna with Butterfield and Robinson.
