Sheila purchased Swains Travel in September 1984.  In the past 24 years through her client centered philosophy, travel expertise, destination knowledge of herself and co workers the agency has grown and prospered in a very competitive business environment. She attributes the success of the agency to her belief in, and the practice of, placing client’s needs first and  exceeding their expectations for service, travel and destination knowledge.  She enjoys working directly with clients from the planning stages through to her client evaluation of their travel experiences.
She has traveled to many places…. by land, air, and sea.  She has cruised extensively with many different cruise lines to Alaska, the Panama Canal, Caribbean and Greek islands, and Mexico, and she has barged in the Loire and Champagne regions of France.
Her most recent travels have taken her to Scotland, Paris and a fabulous villa vacation with friends in Tuscany, Italy.  Sheila also has traveled extensively in Italy including Tuscany and Amalfi Coast, visiting the fabulous towns of Positano, Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello and also the Isle of Capri!!!!!
Sheila  also arranges and sometimes escorts trips for various associations such the Nantucket Historical Associations and Maria Mitchell Associations. Past trips  include the Azores,  Madeira Island, New Zealand, Alaska and the Galapagos Islands, which have all been a huge success. This coming year 2012, Sheila is working with the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce on a trip to Portugal March 16-25th 2012, so if you are interested please give her a call.
Sheila also loves European Rivers cruise, having just travel to Budapest and Prague and cruised the Danube River on AMA Waterways and Uniworld along the Main and Rhine Rivers, just magnificent!!
 Each year, Sheila always travels with a group of ladies usually to Europe, this September she is traveling with 15 ladies to the British Isle, which will included London, Cotswold's, Edinburgh and Isle of Sky just to name a few.  It is hard to say what Sheila’s favorite destination is as there are so many including Hawaii, Bermuda, France, Ireland and Italy. But one thing is sure she loves to travel!

Being a Nantucket native, Bevin loves her island home but also enjoys experiencing new places. Growing up in a family involved with the industry she’s been fortunate to travel extensively. While in college she had the opportunity to study abroad in Siena, Italy. Using that as a home base she traveled throughout Italy, and was also able to visit Interlocken, Switzerland and Tunis, Tunisia. Some of her favorite traveling experiences have been while driving cross-country with friends (without a map) sightseeing along the way. Her favorite relaxation vacation spot is St.John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which has been an annual family favorite. Bungee jumping out of a gondola in Switzerland, canyoning in the Alps, white-water rafting in Wyoming, and skydiving in Florida are memories she’ll never forget. She loves every aspect of travel from the people, the sights, the food, the adventure, and even some of the unexpected. She most recently returned from a Caravan tour through the Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park, where she saw grizzly bears, elk, and bighorn sheep - not to mention some of the most amazing scenery! Wenche " Venka" Gazaille is from Norway and has over 12 years of experience from working as a travel consultant in USA and Norway. After the birth of her two daughters, she has been an Independent Travel Agent for Swains Travel working out of her home office. She still loves to travel and is not afraid to take the family on longer trips to explore new and exciting places in the world. With two young girls who love Walt Disney World, Wenche has become a Disney Expert after visiting Disney at least 10 times or more.
Wenche started traveling a long time ago and she has visited many countries in Europe, Asia, South Pacific, Caribbean, South America and the US. Since she started working at Swain's Travel, she has always had a "top 5" places she wants to visit. Trips in the future for Wenche and her family include South Carolina and San Diego, and a trip this winter to either Singapore or Brazil. Travel to far away places has been her lifelong passion which she has pursued with vigor and delight.  Her adventures have included over 20 cruises, many overland excursions and dozens of city visits everywhere in the world. 
She has traveled to every country in South America, every country in Western Europe, almost every island in the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, Russia, but most especially Asia; India, Thailand, Malaysia, Burma, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and China.
She has cruised from Santiago Chile around Cape Horn, to Rio De Janeiro, stopping in Puerto Montt, Patagonia, Ushuaia, Falkland Islands ending in Buenos Aires and from Miami through the Panama Canal and along the Pacific Coast of South America through the straights of Magellan and the Eagle Channel.  She has cruised the waters of Asia revisiting for the fourth time Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and China.
In addition she traveled to Cambodia, Laos, Bruni and Japan.   She also took an exotic journey overland from Bangkok to Cambodia and again to Burma, the isolated Himalayan Buddhist Kingdom of Bhutan, Nepal, then to the districts of Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Kerala in India.  That journey ended on the spectacular beaches of the Indian Ocean nation of the Maldives.  Most recently  she has revisited Caribbean destinations to experience new and classic luxury resorts and villas in St. Maartin, Anguilla, Nevis and St Barths  which has become her very favorite Caribbean watering place. 
She has been associated with the travel industry for over 35 years including 12 years in a part time capacity at Swains Travel.  She loves to share her joy of exploration with clients who are planning a trip near or far, even to the ends of the earth.

Stan helps out part-time - he stops by whenever he's needed. He's from Florida, where he has an 'occasional'  winter home. His favorite places to go include St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in the South of France, which he tries to make at least twice a year. Recent side trips include Portofino, Bellagio on Lake Como, and St. Remy de Provence for the Fête de la Transhumance. Last year he returned from Europe on the QM2. Favorite trips include: charter boat along the Dalmatian Coast from Dubrovnik to Vienna, bicycling from Prague to Vienna with Butterfield and Robinson, bare-boat chartering in the Virgin Islands, and visits to Eleuthera in the Bahamas.
